General information:

What is LARP?

The most concise definition of larp is (Wikipedia) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_action_role-playing_game

A live action role-playing game (LARP) is a form of role-playing game where the participants physically act out their characters’ actions. The players pursue goals within a fictional setting represented by the real world while interacting with each other in character.

Despite shared definition, larps can be wildly different from each other-starting with the goal of the game (fun, education, katharsis, experimentation), quantity and quality of the props, tools and costumes, and down to the rules.

It is worth considering what do we expect from larps, and then choose the kind of game suiting our needs and interests. You can read more about larping on the following sites:

The main game – „Wild West: the awakening”

Have you ever wondered what would westerns look like, if the sun didn’t shine as brightly? If the fantastical dime novels had some truth to them?

We want to tell you a story about a shadow is cast over people’s memories and dreams. About walking side by side with death, without letting her snatch you. About how a distant recollection of an old legend about cold iron could save your life. About what the fastest gunslinger feels, when he has to look down into the memories of his victims…or his own.

Texas, early 1861. The small city of Laketown, located on the eastern borders of the state prepares for celebrating 20 years since the city’s foundation. Despite the menace of war looming over the horizon, the citizens decided to hold a grand celebration. A circus troupe and a travelling veaudeville group have been invited. Food, drink and shows have been prepared, prisoners – pardoned, the elders from the nearby indian tribe – invited.

Nevertheless, the citizens of Laketown are restless, though they wouldn’t admit it themselves. Some of them know, others can just feel that with the sunset things will change. Only selected few realise, that for a long, long time they have been living near a border. For there is the world of Day and there is the world of Night.

Where the lands are still uncharted, there are places, where the borders between the world become blurry. And on the Wild West…well, any kind of border is hard to come by.

The World of Day are the humans. Men of different races and professions – cowboys, courtisans, former slaves, copper-skinned gunslingers with aztec blood running in their veins and immigrants from the Old World. Landowners, living in the sun, buying more land and more slaves with the same ease. Gold rush-driven prospectors, ready to risk their health and life for wealth. Greedy merchants, secretly supplying their shops. The soldiers – veterans, wise but almost consumed with the memories that whisper to them from their old medals. Sheriffs pursue merciless outlaws while the mercenary gunmen fight for those, who pay best.

From withing the shade of the forest, the white men are watched by proud Indians, who themselves are trying to match their traditional life with the changes that the pilgrims bring. The elders argue with the young about the future of their tribe. Keen-eyed trackers roam the forests in search of food. The boys on the verge of adulthood embark on their given trials. Beautiful squaw, agile and dangerous help with the hunt, and care about herbs and medicines. The witch-doctors n prepare their concoctions and mix tobbaco to smoke by the campfire.

This is the world which falls asleep at Sunset.

The world of Night are all the stories that don’t let you fall asleep, whispered about in small rooms, that smell of tobacco smoke, pinewood and well-hid fear, where the only shield against the darkness is the fickle flame of oil lamp, ever so small and fragile. The world of Night is the wraiths and demons, but also the bedtime stories. They are beings, nameless or named, whose names terrify and carry the memories of old loves and friends. They are the spectres of angry red-skinned spirits, but also the voices of guardian totems. The visions that the colonists brought with them, the old indian legends, created by history and belief. For when the night falls, what’s left to men but the stories?

Here lies the border between those two worlds. Here, you can meet anything. Here gathered those distrusted elsewhere: voodoo priests, spiritists, mexican women with sugarskull make-up. Those few understand both worlds, the way some of the Indians do. Old shamans, warriors with their totems carved into their souls, nimble-fingered shaman women, who can use the herbs to weave life, death, and the journey between them.

They say that eerie events take place in Madame Grimm’s cabinet of wonders – demons possessing people’s bodies during the sessions.

They say that red-skinned shamans have awoken spiteful earth spirits, and their totems take on terrifying shapes.

They say that the circus people, the fireaters and jugglers, who come to spike up the festivities may provide something more than a pleasant spectacle.

They say that there are those living on the edge of Night and Day. It is said that some return from there.

Listen to them. Listen to the stories. They shape the world. If you survive long enough, perhaps they will start to speak about you. It is a game about a darker version of the Wild West. About people living on the edge of the familiar and the unbelievable. It is a story about changes. About conflicts of beliefs, times, cultures and realities.

And it is also a game about death. About a shrouded truth of its inevitability and about consequences of dancing at its edge. About emotions death stirs, and feelings that can’t cool down.

This game is a story. If you want you’re – you can add your chapter to it.
